Ronnie Acebo joined the Regent coaching staff in 2021 with nearly three decades of experience as a head high school tennis coach. He served as a teacher and coach for 15 years at Nowata High School and for the last 13 years as the girls and boys head varsity tennis coach at Jenks high school. Coach Acebo has been honored as the Tulsa World Tennis Coach of the Year five times, the OSSAA Girls Tennis Coach of the Year, the NFHS Sectional Tennis Coach of the Year and the USTA Missouri Valley Tennis Coach of the Year. Coach Acebo has also led Jenks High School teams to seven 6A OSSAA State Championships, 14 6A OSSAA State Runner-Up finishes, and 22 6A OSSAA Regional Championships. Coach Acebo is an accomplished USTA player himself. He was a collegiate national qualifier tennis player and an Academic All-American. Coach Acebo has continued to compete in highly competitive USTA men’s play. He also teachers private lessons.
Coach Acebo is an outstanding teacher with a remarkable career as an Advanced and AP English, Speech, and Literature teacher, with both university and secondary high school teaching experiences. He has also been a university English and Humanities professor. His undergraduate degree is Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a Master of Arts in English Literature. Coach Acebo, as a teacher, has been recognized for honors as a State of Oklahoma Teacher of the Year finalist and as a District Teacher of the Year, while teaching American Literature, English Literature, World Literature, Grammar and Composition, Humanities, and ACT Preparation Classes. Coach Acebo will also serve Regent as a substitute Language Arts teacher.
Coach Acebo is a highly recommended and accomplished teacher and coach that professes Christ as his Savior and Lord. He and his wife attend and worship at Life Church. Coach Acebo will also be teaching and directing the Regent Middle School tennis program players, practices and coaches, in addition to coaching and directing Regent high school teams, coaches and programs.
