Enrichment (Pre-K & Kindergarten)
The pre-K and kindergarten programs at Regent, known as Enrichment II and III respectively, are based on the philosophy of Charlotte Mason who taught that education should be a way of life, an atmosphere that surrounds a student as the very air he or she breathes. Mason believed young children should spend more time at home with their parents than time at school, so we have a modified school day for our youngest children. For the Enrichment class levels, parents select either a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday schedule or Tuesday and Thursday.
Even though children spend less time at school, this does not mean we accomplish less work. In fact, the curriculum is designed to be a grade-level ahead.
Teachers are able to accomplish all that is done within this short period of time for two main reasons:
1) We teach children that hard work is good for us.
2) Parents partner with teachers to practice their child's learning at home on the days when they are not at school.
All new learning is taught at school by teachers. Practice exercises are sent home for the children to complete with their parents. Such exercises reinforce what is taught in class. It is because of this unique structure that we call these introductory grade levels "Enrichment."
