FOCUS ON THE CLASSROOM: We’re starting our look inside the classroom with Class 6 as they begin their last year in the School of Grammar. This first full week of school they dove into discovering many important topics during their core classes:
LANGUAGE ARTS: Class 6 practiced identifying prepositional phrases and subjects of sentences. They also identified plot elements in a story.
HISTORY: Students learned about the different factors that make up culture and worked in groups to ‘create’ their own culture, which will be presented in front of the class.
MATH: Class 6 learned the properties of math and reviewed the four basic operations.
SCIENCE: They learned the parts of a microscope and how to use them properly. This prepares them for the many labs ahead this year and the years to come when they head to the School of Logic.
LATIN: Students learned Latin greetings, reviewed numbers, and began the study of Virgil, who has been “considered to be nothing less than a porto-Christian, one whom the God of the Bible used to prepare the Greco-Roman world for the coming of Christ,” according to Louis Markos.
