FOCUS ON THE CLASSROOM: It has been a busy couple of weeks in Class 2. If you could have looked behind the doors of our Class 2 rooms, this is what you may have discovered:
MATH - Second graders practiced +2 and +9 addition facts, reviewed how to divide a square into 2, 4, 8, and 3 equal parts, as well as connected the fraction names to each of those parts.
PHONICS - They completed their review of the combinations ar, er, ir, or, ur, qu, and wh.
LANGUAGE ARTS - Class 2 completed a unit on letter writing and wrote a pretend pioneer letter to a friend and mailed it at the Post Office when they were at Prairie Song.
LITERATURE - They read about Beatrix Potter and completed their unit on her book, “Jemima Puddleduck.”
HISTORY - Class 2 completed their study of George Washington and recited “Survival at Valley Forge” at Prairie Song. They are now learning about Daniel Boone and the Wilderness Road.
STORY-TIME - They finished reading “Cabin Faced West” and have begun reading “Farmer Boy.”
