BOYS TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR FINALIST
In 19 matches this season, Beard finished 17-2, including a 4-0 run through the state tournament to win a championship. In victories over Grove’s Zach Draper, Gus Byrd, Oklahoma Christian School’s Trendon Ayers and Elk City’s Quinn Brewer at the 4A state tournament, Beard only dropped seven games in nothing but straight-set victories. Beard also dominated in regional play with three straight-set wins.
COACH OF THE YEAR
In her first season as Regent’s coach. Rebekah Kennedy led the Rams to a third-place finish in Class 4A with a sweep of the singles titles. She was a 6A state champion and runner-up at Edmond North. She played tennis at Central Oklahoma.
ALSO ON THE FIRST TEAM
Senior tennis player and #2 singles state champion, Bo Bayless was also selected for the First Team in addition to earning the Oklahoma Jim Thorpe Tennis Player of the Year Award and as the Oklahoma All-State Sportsmanship Award recipient!
