Debbie King joined the Regent coaching staff as head coach for the track program in summer 2023.

As an athlete, Coach Debbie (Thornhill) King was an outstanding high school track athlete in Wichita Falls, Texas, before advancing to the University of North Texas, as scholarship track athlete. At the University of North Texas, Debbie won the Sunbelt Conference cross country, indoor 3,000 meter and outdoor 5,000 meter conference championships. Debbie transferred to Baylor University, where she earned NCAA All-American honors in the 10,000m, while winning the  BIG 12 conference championship in the 10,000 meter race in both her Junior and Senior seasons. She also won the 2002 Texas Relays Championship and the 2003 Drake Relays Championship in the 5000 meter race, while at Baylor University. Debbie was an Olympic Trial Qualifier in the 10,000m. After graduating from Baylor University, she ran track professionally for two years with a club team in North Carolina.

As a coach, Coach King coached both the men' and women's’  distance runners for four years on the University of Tulsa Track Staff. As a USTF Level 1 Certified track coach, she coached highly successful distance runners at the University of Tulsa.

Debbie, along with her husband Kyle, is also a Regent parent of two students. Coach Debbie King also works part time for St. Francis Health Systems. Coach King, her husband, and her family are faithful followers of Jesus and devoted to their Church.

She has a vision for continuing to grow the track program, as our school grows.
 

Brian McKinney, a Regent coach, parent, and marathon and iron man athlete himself, assists with the distance runners on Regent's track team. 

Jonathan Rivers is a Pastor,  Regent parent, and former All-American  track athlete in the 4x400 relay and former Summit conference champion and record holder in the 400m at ORU. Coach Rivers assists with sprinters on Regent's track team.
